Photographs are a glimpse of what may lie deep in the soul of a landscape, a seemingly everyday situation or a person. Good ones grab us by the imagination, they make us question, dream, think. The featured works showcase, in literal and abstract fashion, facets of Latino culture ranging from religion, to architecture, to family life.

Fotos de Mi Alma photography auction and exhibit is Latinitas’ signature annual fundraiser. Celebrating it’s 9th year, the photography auction presents the glorious photography of Texas-native and cum laude Tequila documentarian Joel Salcido Ruiz. Salcido’s remarkable pictures will be complemented by a collection of photos from photographers from around the world.

Salcido Ruiz is "always in quest of new visual frontiers, whether they be out in the highlands of any earthly corner of the planet or the mere comforts of a studio". He is drawn to people and their fascinating tales of conquest and defeat. A veteran photographer from the El Paso Times, Salcido Ruiz has ventured into the realm of anthropological photographer - documenting the development of tequila, something so ingrained to Latino celebration, so ubiquitous in the consumable sphere, but also a historical drink few know the origins of.  His depiction of tequila production has taken him to far corners of Mexico and was beautifully published in Texas Monthly and now in a partnership with a major tequila producer the photography show has traveled to El Paso, Dallas, Spain, Austin and soon San Antonio.
